Pimped Britannia

Thank you for clicking onto the website of Pete Harris, self employed family man and resident of the Isle of Wight.

The words you are about to view are those of an ordinary working Brit, infuriated at the trashing of his country. Railing at the TV news from the isolation of my own living room though achieves nothing, hence this website and a couple of books I’ll tell you about in a mo.

I’ll come straight to the point… The nation is in a shocking mess and nobody is lifting a finger where doing anything about it is concerned. That’s a statement of fact and one that is totally unacceptable.

I put it to you that no previous generation of Brits would have tolerated a fraction of the nonsense ours will now. That’s true isn’t it? No matter how blatant and disgraceful the abuses being heaped upon us are, we dare not any longer say boo to a goose in response. We’ve lost our bottle, which is the point of this project. We shouldn’t be suffering a diet of endless rubbish, but should instead and at long last begin to take our parental and national responsibilities seriously. The time has come in my view, to shake off the defeatist mindset that currently blights us British and stop endlessly retreating.

Before proceeding, a word of warning concerning the nature of this document and come to that, everything else I’ve written on the subject matter…

In order to gain their feedback, I ran this before a few trusted people before publishing. All agreed no punches are pulled, it’s about as unforgiving as could be, and one person even used the word ‘rant’. I refute that on the grounds that the theories and explanations employed are all the product of many years in fermentation and have been painstakingly worked out. It is passionate being driven by decade’s worth of betrayal, injustice and lousy leadership. If it is a rant, it’s a controlled and justified one!

We’re living in the land that’s blighted by political ‘representatives’ reduced to a self-serving, antidemocratic, spineless breed that handicap the nation and us all…

Our bankers that used to be rock solid pillars of the community have morphed into a shallow, greed driven, irresponsible pack of fiscal spivs…

Our captains of industry have divorced themselves entirely from their workforces, the general populous, and notions such as ‘nationhood’. Profits maximised to the nth degree are their sole concern regardless of the damage done to community and national interests. I cite the prostituting of Cadburys to the ruthless corporate predator Kraft to illustrate the point.

The legal trade no longer keeps us safe but instead endangers the nation and us all, due to its relentless pursuance of money…

  • British policing has ceased to be effective and inspire confidence…
  • The education system has failed whilst our competitors streak ahead…

Preachers of hatred alien to Britain’s tradition of tolerance enjoy a cloak of legal protection and don’t work courtesy of the benefits system. Meanwhile the devil makes work for their idle hands, as they scheme and plot the overthrow of democracy and civilisation, to be displaced by enslavement to warlords and sheer naked barbarism…

And we’ve an entire boiling cauldron of ‘bad attitudes’ amongst the general populous to contend with, but especially the feral underclass that never used to exist, but which blights every community in the land now.

How does that lot measure up where setting out my stall is concerned? Blunt enough? Its why the language employed is uncompromising and why I’m not overly concerned about upsetting a few people. Those whose conduct has in any way, no matter how small, helped trash Britain and our way of life don’t deserve an easy ride, but to be made to answer for their deeds. I’ve no interest to go easy, but to unload upon the personalities and institutions that have wronged Britain. Those concerned deserve to have their snouts rubbed into the results of their labours, and I’ll make no apology for doing precisely that.

You need not worry about Anglo-Saxon language; there isn’t any, so therefore you can allow junior or granny to read this document without censorship. Beware though, I cannot guarantee they won’t get upset and perhaps angry, at seeing the national predicament made so plain, there being no mincing of words. This once great and noble land has been raped and humiliated and the worst of it is laid bare within the writings of yours truly. That though is the whole point. I don’t think we should be putting up with all the garbage we are, and I truly believe the country can be put back to rights. The starting point though where such a challenge is concerned, is to get the blinkers off, to get our bearings as to where we are exactly, and to then set about formulating a plan to win back for our children, their birthrights.

Three quick points…

  • Firstly I must acknowledge and thank friends and well-wishers for their technical and moral support in getting this project off the ground and into cyberspace.
  • Secondly I have spent goodness knows how many thousands of hours working on a book the title of which is ‘Sheep No More’ the same name as this website. Written from my own ordinary working mans perspective, it is a dissection of the Britain Margaret Thatcher, John Major, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown are responsible for having created. It depicts the death of civilised values, the betrayal of our forebear’s achievements, and the trashing of every British girl and boys inheritance.
  • Lastly, Sheep No More itself still needs a tad more polishing before it will be fit to publish. In the meantime and having been written in the winter of 2009, a much slimmer booklet called ‘Pimped Britannia’ is ready now. You can see an online version of it on this website, and at only 14,000 words it is less than an hour’s reading time. In essence it’s free, but should you be inclined to make a contribution at your own discretion towards funding this project, it will be gratefully received and I promise you, put to good and constructive use. From my booklet you’ll get an insight into the thought process that drives the project and also I hope have your appetite wetted for the bigger volume.

I’d recommend that you might like to leave off here and go now to ‘Pimped Britannia’ then come back to this point afterwards. By doing so, you’ll understand exactly what the mindset driving this project is. Alternatively, stay with this document and dive into PB whenever it suits.

Broken Britain

Place the words ‘Broken’ and ‘Britain’ together and everyone that cares about the country will instantly know what’s being discussed. We’re talking about the land that had it all, was the most stable and civilised on earth not so long ago, but which has in recent times lost the plot like no other nation on earth.

Striking from my own perspective, is that whilst the British are perfectly well aware that their country has gone wrong in every conceivable way, they’re doing nothing whatsoever about it. It is as though the national backbone has crumbled, our collective spirits have been snuffed out, and we seem as a people to be trapped inside some sort of malevolent trance, out of which we appear incapable of escaping. Meanwhile and right under our noses, our way of life is being trashed and our children’s birthright that of living within the worlds most stable and upstanding nation, has been taken from them. It’s as plain as day that this has happened, and yet you and I as their supposedly ‘responsible’ parents aren’t reacting to the travesty in any way, shape, or form. That’s another statement of fact would you not agree?

Ordinary Brits know its all gone wrong, and so do many citizens of foreign lands, who as outside observers can barely believe what’s become of the place. On a recent Mediterranean holiday and on falling into conversation around many a dinner table, time and time again, sympathy was expressed and bewilderment at what has become of Britain from fellow diners. I was struck that ordinary Americans especially, seemed fully clued up to the breakdown unfolding in the old country to which many are fondly attached, but mystified as to why the British aren’t reacting?

The past thirty years in particular interest and concern me, that is to say the period during which Thatcher, Major, Blair and Brown have been in charge. I fully accept that under the earlier governments of Wilson, Heath and Callahan we were as a nation already beginning noticeably to ‘wobble’. Thatcher’s coming to power in 1979 though, for me represents the point at which Britain entirely lost the plot both politically and commercially.

This in a nutshell is what I expect from my government but have for the past thirty years not received…

I want them to act responsibly and ‘steward’ the affairs of the nation sensibly, constructively and meaningfully.

Recently the word ‘covenant’ has come to be widely used and understood where the military are concerned. Put straightforwardly, a servicemen putting his or her life on the line whilst wearing the Queen’s Uniform, is fully entitled to expect 100% support from the politicians that sent him into danger and from the populous he protects. He/she is entitled to the best body armour, robust vehicles, helicopters and the likes. But should the worst happen, the very best medical care and support of families will be provided without question, let or hindrance.

Every caring Brit knows that New Labour has failed to honour the military covenant adequately, as many a fallen or injured soldier in Afghanistan and previously Iraq has time and time again demonstrated.
I happen to believe that such an unspoken of and generally unrecognised ‘covenant’ between the electorate and its government has similarly not been honoured by every administration since Thatcher.

Here’s the deal… In exchange for receiving my vote, the government of the day must pull out all the stops where protecting the nation’s integrity is concerned. The ordinary citizen has enough on his or her hands. We have to bring home the bacon, raise our children to be decent and upstanding, and prepare them to face the future. Meanwhile the government we elected has to keep the nation safe, stable and secure so that you and I can perform our parental duty effectively. I’d call that a partnership wouldn’t you? And were the said ‘partnership’ to be understood and adhered too by both parties, I would venture to suggest that Britain would not be in the almighty mess it now is.

I can only say that my side of the bargain has been fulfilled as I have done my level best to raise my children properly. Every government for the past thirty years though, has failed and spectacularly so, to fulfil its side of the deal. They’ve presided over the destruction of the economy. They’ve held open the doors to all and sundry. They’ve turned Britain into a terrorist’s safe haven and made it effectively lawless. Ultimately they’ve let the country go feral, and in doing so have destroyed for millions if not most of us, our peace of mind and belief that Britain does actually have ‘a future’.

By anyone’s standards, this must count as being an abject failure. They’ve betrayed our servicemen and likewise every civilian in the land. I condemn our entire political establishment out of hand for their catalogue of failings. For three unbroken decades they’ve handicapped every man, woman and child in the land and all anyone need do to confirm that assertion, is to look around and take in the evidence of a society and civilisation on its knees.

The 2010 General Election

Unless something significant happens, like this project for instance succeeds in throwing a small spanner into the establishment’s political ‘machine’. The much abused British electorate will be expected to vote in yet another government from amongst the very people and parties to have done all the damage.

At the 2005 General Election I felt compelled to spoil my own ballot paper, in protest at what a self-serving bunch of shysters they all are. Now matters are considerably worse, which means under the current regime I won’t be able to vote again this time, an imposition I violently object too.

Since 2005 huge numbers of benefits tourists have poured in along with armies of EU citizens exercising their ‘right’ to entry. Countless murders have traumatised the nation as children have killed other children for kicks. The banking crisis has exploded the myth that Gordon Brown’s ‘services economy’ was anything more than delusional on his and his government’s part. We’re in debt like no other supposedly First World ‘Industrialised’ nation. Our pensions aren’t worth the paper they’re written on, and we’ve been told to expect to work until we drop. What’s left of British Industry is in meltdown. And to top it all we’ve had the expenses scandal that has exposed our political masters for being the crooks and spivs they actually are.

Consider if you will, the ‘choices’ on offer at the 2010 General Election...

New Labour
The ‘achievement’ of the Blair/Brown regime has been to destroy Britain’s integrity. Make the country lawless. Surrender unconditionally our political, commercial and legal sovereignty. Run a non-productive basket-case economy. Asset strip the country blind. Mire the nation in debt. Impose the mother of all benefits cultures. Make working until you drop for those of us with a work ethic compulsory. And through deliberate social engineering, open the floodgates to all, with no regard to how dangerous those pouring in may be. Ultimately New Labour has been the single most influential factor where the rise of the BNP is concerned. That organisation is thriving upon the cauldron of fears New Labour has let come to the boil during its thirteen year long reign of incompetence.

The Conservatives
Who is the architect of Britain in its current form? No question… Margaret Thatcher. Hers is the blueprint Blair and Brown have followed faithfully and that ultimately broke Britain’s backbone and spirit. Currently David Cameron and his bunch of Old Etonian cronies expect to be elected by default. What have they to offer other than more of the same? Where is their plan to defeat the national malaise? They don’t have one! They’ve a golden opportunity to blow a useless government away with some meaningful, constructive and intelligent policies, but they haven’t got any. The only ‘plan’ David Cameron has up his sleeve is to tack on a further five years to the three decades we’ve already suffered of Thatcherism, free market forces and lazy, visionless, nationally handicapping governance.

The Liberal Democrats
Euro fanatics, masters of spin and purveyors of Political Correctness par excellence, enough said.

The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP)
Establishment sop party, the effect of which is to soak up the Euro sceptic vote and bin it. I was a paid up member of UKIP for a couple of years until I wised up!

For an entire term of the European Parliament, UKIP has had 12 MEP’s in situ. By my standards, that’s a significant group and one that could make a lot of noise and trouble had they been so inclined. So what have they actually achieved? Have they set to work upon Britannia’s EU straightjacket with a view towards loosening the bindings? No, instead they’ve enjoyed the £100K per member wage and expenses package. They’ve quaffed a hell of a lot of Champagne on the cocktail party circuit. And they’ve become fat and well feathered political birds on the glorious lifestyle yours and my tax monies have provided them with. Unsurprisingly they’ve become fowl in no rush to vote for Christmas. If ever there were a flock of political turkeys on the scene, this lot definitely qualify.

The Green Party
Beards, sandals, yogurt, thick woolly jumpers, windmills… lovely people I’m sure and idealistically well intentioned. Ca
pable of coming down like a ton of bricks upon criminals and the feral underclass though, and evicting the legions of illegal immigrants? Not a chance, they’re far too soft and cuddly.

Scottish, Welsh and now English nationalists
As an Englishman that rates his ‘British’ status as of paramount value, I consider the 1707 Act of Union to have been the most important political advance of all time. The Industrial Revolution. The Great Reforms that included the abolishment of slavery. The building of the greatest Empire the world has ever seen and the resultant global seeding of democratic values. The emancipation of women and equal status. The defeat of Nazism and the triumph of Capitalism over Communism. All of this was achieved when we were a genuinely United Kingdom. Now though and with the bonds that used to bind us fraying, Alex Salmond and his chums of the Scottish Nationalist Party are hell bent upon tearing apart the union and plunging us back three centuries politically. Meanwhile no one is making the just case that we would have to be out of out tiny minds to let this act of political vandalism and treachery, happen on our generations watch.

In Wales Plaid Cymru is picking at the bonds of the United Kingdom and working hard to loosen them. And now an English National Party has come to the fore as well, as a consequence of the damage being seen to be done by Scottish and Welsh nationalists.

Question… Who will benefit from the disintegration of the United Kingdom? The Scottish, Welsh, Irish and English peoples? Or our competitors that already have Britain over a barrel due to our lousy leadership, lack of joined up thinking and an increasing inability to cooperate? If the ‘nationalists’ aren’t stopped, we’ll end up as four pipsqueak nations, each of which will be incapable of maintaining anything like genuine ‘independence’. How do we avoid it? We fire up the counterargument to small minded nationalism and make the case to revitalise and strengthen the ‘ United Kingdom’.

The Respect Party, the Jury Team and their likes
A rabble of Trots in the case of George Galloway and his chums, always ready to wage class warfare. Whilst the Jury Team lot will be folks that are understandably upset at the state of things, but have no meaningful policies designed to address matters.

The British National Party (BNP)
Ultimate political ‘symptom’ of a nation in crisis. Our country needs more than anything else, to unite in the common interest. That’s a task the BNP can never fulfil, nor does it have any interest to do so. It’s an organisation that will fracture the nation further and deeper the more its power and influence grows. Ordinary Brits are turning towards it out of fear and that is down entirely to the catastrophic failure of our established political masters to keep the nation safe. New Labour, The Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats are to blame, so let us point the finger where we justifiably must. At them!

A varied selection of Independent Candidates
Some of these will give the best hope of an independently minded, moral and upstanding candidate. They are though very thin on the ground. Not particularly good at cooperating with one another. Have little to call upon in terms of cash resources. And will be facing the massed ranks of party political, line-towing, on message minions that need not expend energy thinking, but just regurgitate mantra from a script.

'PUNK' Politics

What… Anarchy in the UK? We’ve got that or something scarily close; it wasn’t though the Sex Pistols that delivered, but the establishment through irresponsible governance. Ironic huh? Johnny and the boys predicted where we were headed, and then Maggie and her disciples drove us all there!

An interesting reversal of received wisdom? We’ve a duty to work stuff out for ourselves in my opinion. Punks were from the word go painted as ‘degenerate’ by the establishment. In my opinion however, they were just musicians and kids wearing plastic bags and safety pins, rebelling as young Brits always have done. Politicians on the other hand are responsible for the conditions upon which society functions. If they screw up, we may very well end up facing anarchy or something close to it. At which point I offer the court exhibit ‘A’ GB plc in 2010!

What’s the relevance of punk, when the topic under discussion is the political and social condition of the country you may well ask? There is method in my madness believe it or not, so please bear with me a while.
I reckon there’s an interesting and relevant comparison to be made between the Britain shaken up in 1975 and that of now.
Back then Britain was both musically and culturally stultified, but the punk generation changed all that. I wasn’t part of that scene so have no axe to grind for it; I recognise however the significance of what they did.

We’re talking about rebellious kids that didn’t like what they were being force fed, and had minds of their own plus a good deal of creativity they then had the bottle to exploit. They weren’t accepting of the status quo, had a clear idea of what they did want, and a peer group of likeminded people who were able to spread the message of rebellion quickly.

What does Britain desperately need right now? I think we need politics to be set alight and become relevant to the masses. Currently we’re handicapped by a political establishment that has effectively ‘divorced itself’ from the general population. These, clearly expect to get away with ‘business as usual’ despite the desperate state we’re in, as proven by the fact that none have so much as a half baked plan to revitalise the nation, even with a General Election in the offing.

Punk PoliticsI think the punk movement can offer a lesson or two; we’d do well to take onboard at this point in our history. In musical terms, they weren’t accepting of the kind of mind numbing drivel the likes of Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Wishbone Ash were churning out. So the Pistols and The Clash amongst others blew such unsatisfying ‘tinkling’ away. Their message was straightforward, clear, came from the heart and was relevant to the peer group. As a result the music scene in Britain was set alight and we came as a nation culturally back to life.

As for spreading the word back in the 70’s, that happened in the main through word of mouth, journalism and some clever artwork.

I well remember seeing a flyer pasted onto a bus stop and being intrigued as to the message it contained. The poster in question showed three simple diagrams of a guitar neck and some relevant finger positions. The first showed where to hold down the strings and stated “this is a chord." In the second diagram the finger positions had moved and the wording stated “this is another” One more showed the fingering moved again and stated “this is a third." Underneath the three was then written “Now you know what to do form a band." Very soon afterwards and all around the country, bands did indeed begin coming out of the woodwork, a few of which were actually good!

The memory of that flyer spotted in central London way back then, has stayed with me all these years thanks to its simplicity and brilliance. Where our current national status is concerned, the country really is in a shocking mess and in desperate need of a political revolution. You know that’s true and so do I. Where spreading a message that alerts our countrymen to the much needed discussion this project aims to kick off is concerned, we don’t need pasted up stickers at bus stops anymore, because we’ve got the internet. What probably took months to travel nationwide in the mid 1970’s could be done in a day or two now through utilisation of the net via emailing our friends and contacts.

We’ve got both the need to act and a tremendous tool to use, in the form of the internet where connecting people up are concerned. Now what’s called for is some strong and worthy content that’s intended to fire people’s imaginations, but more vitally to provide young Brits particularly, with a reason to believe in the future.

The following is the product of an ordinary and unremarkable Brit that actually cares about the country and wants a worthy future for his children. These are ideas and concepts resultant from the employment of simple commonsense and logic. They are not complicated, but straightforward and designed to be constructive in nature.

Have conducted numerous conversations on the subject of the trashing of Britain over many years. And have worked long and hard to fathom where it all went wrong as the material for my book Sheep No More.

Us Brits are not complicated people, we believe in justice, fair play, even handedness, democracy and common decency. We fully appreciate what our ancestors went through, in order to bequeath us a truly great legacy. And all we really want when all is said and done, is the ability to maintain our civilisation and hand it down to the next generation. It’s not asking much, yet our politicians plainly don’t get it. And that I’m sorry to say is a third statement of fact.

Please allow me to seed in your minds eye a useful ‘fiscal concept’ prior to the list of national priorities itself. Currently we’re squandering the bulk of our economy, on negative and damaging forms of expenditure, and that’s a subject matter we really must get our heads around.

My idea is to take a warts and all look at the economy and assess whether out politicians are channelling money towards good or bad forms of expenditure. Every penny of the cash we’re talking about, comes out of the pockets of you and I, ours being the most overly taxed population on earth. ‘He who pays the piper is fully entitled to call the tune’ agreed? Therefore we don’t just have a right to say how we want our money to be spent; we have in actual fact a duty to the country, not to allow our politicians and fiscal leaders to waste any more of this vital resource.

And besides, the banking crisis, the recession from which we cannot escape due to the ‘basket case’ nature of our economy, and the obscene spectre of the ‘expenses scandal’ all demonstrate the uselessness of our political masters. These are people that don’t do ‘responsibility and honour’ therefore we the victims of their incompetence and criminality have not just the right, but the duty not to put up with any more of it.

Money and cash-flow is the most powerful resource we possess where maintaining a healthy society is concerned. If we’ve the sense to channel it towards positive forms of expenditure, it can do enormous good. But if we’re not sensible and responsible, it may very well end up being wasted on mass.

Out national economy and the cash contained within it, are in actual fact a ‘tool’ and the most useful one we possess where maintaining the nation is concerned. As all know, a tool in the hands of someone competent can be used to good and constructive effect. The same tool though in the hands of a blithering idiot can do enormous harm, and might even become a weapon in the worst scenario.

A positive list and a negative one. The first is made up of features that strengthen the nation and improve quality of life for the populous. The second though, depicts negative features currently being permitted to soak up and waste cash on a nationally suicidal scale.

Positive
Education. Health. Effective Policing and Justice. Defence of the Realm. Social Services. Public amenities. Pensions. Dignity in old age. These are features deserving of adequate funding and that improve quality of life.

Negative
Sucking in foreign benefits tourists. Bankrolling the work-shy. Fortifying society against criminals and terrorists active within. Protecting the ‘rights’ of such individuals. Incarcerating Europe’s most overblown prison population, resultant from our loss of civilised values. Funding the European Union, a club that has never given the British masses whose tax monies pay for it, anything more than the bill. And importing far more than we sensibly should, considering ours is supposed to be both an ‘independent’ and ‘industrialised’ democracy.

Where both lists are concerned, there are plenty of other items that could be added. Those though represent from my perspective anyway, the ‘big ticket items’ that are either being starved of cash in the case of those on the positive list. Or are soaking up the nation’s life blood unjustifiably in the case of the negative one.

Further to the good versus bad spending argument outlined, I would now like to add a visual element by way of utilising an analogy. The idea is to take a sideways look at our national economy, through comparing it to a living organism.

Before I begin though, I would ask you to picture in your minds eye the sort of anatomical diagram you might see in a doctor’s waiting room. The type that shows a person and the whereabouts within them of all the vital organs… brain, heart, liver, lungs etc. Now if you will, picture the British Isles as they appear on a weather map on the TV news for instance, and place that image alongside the first. Why? I want to draw a comparison between the two. All will become clear in a mo.

anatomical diagramThe British Isles

Within your body are a series of organs, each of which is vital to your health. The organs are interconnected by a vascular system through which blood is pumped. The blood carries with it nutriment, oxygen and white cells, that are in effect the body’s ‘army and maintenance team’. These defend against disease and repair damage when it occurs. So long as the ‘system’ is maintained in good order, life continues and should be fulfilling. However… if disease sets in and is not dealt with promptly, or a tear in the vascular system is not repaired so allowing vital blood to drain away, you’re in trouble and likely to be headed for the mortuary.

Where the national economy is concerned, education, policing, the NHS and the likes equate to society’s ‘vital organs’. These are interconnected by the national economy, which is the equivalent of a vascular system. Cash-flow is the blood of course, and this must surge around in a strong and consistent stream. Just as within a living organism, a constant state of alertness must be maintained for disease and leaks. This is where our politicians come into play, because it’s their job to ‘steward’ and direct finance intelligently.

Within my analogy, politicians are the ‘white cells’ that are supposed to defend the nation and quickly repair any damage that occurs. This they have spectacularly failed to do for a very long time, as proven by the condition of our ailing society and all the haemorrhaging of cash that has gone on. Britain’s has been a compromised and suppressed immune system, and that is probably the understatement of the age.

I’d like now to focus exclusively on the second image, that of the British Isles and dispense with the first, it having served its purpose. Impose upon the map you hold within your thoughts, the ‘vital organs’ of health, education, policing etc in any arrangement that suits you. You could place them where our major cities would be… Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London. Or where you’d expect counties to be… Cornwall, Yorkshire, Sussex etc. Next imagine connecting them up with a vascular system, only in this case it’s the economy. Finally, picture life blood (cash-flow) surging around and maintaining a healthy state of affairs.

Initially you might have acquired quite a nice picture, you’ll soon realise however that some features of modern British life are notably missing… The European Union that bleeds us dry of cash and imposes a cat’s cradle of red tape… Our now massive feral underclass… The work-shy… Hoards of benefits tourists… Criminals… In other words not one but a whole host of societal ‘tumours’ that are tapped into the economy, leaching out cash on mass, and poisoning the nation to the point of bringing it to deaths door. Meanwhile, any that might wield the fiscal scalpel and cut off the supply of nutriment feeding these cancers, aren’t making the slightest attempt to do so.

The positioning of tumours on my map is incidental, with no implication made, concerning any particular location. They might just as well cover the entire land anyway, as well we all know!

Are you concerned perhaps that I might be over egging the pudding? Listen then to our political masters as they compete in the rush to slash budgets, supposedly to demonstrate ‘prudence’. Less police officer’s on the beat. Experienced teachers let go and wet behind the ears graduates brought in. The unwell denied effective but expensive drugs. Killers and paedophiles sent home from jail to ease overcrowding. Slashed defence spending even whilst we’re at war and with thousands of potential terrorists in our midst. I’m not making this up; it comes out of the mouths of Brown, Cameron and Clegg. Notable though, is that never does cutting the supply of cash to the many tumours sucking the life out of the nation, ever get mentioned. On that matter they’ve nothing to say, period.

For me this marks the crux of the issue. Those who expect us to vote for them and therefore subject Britain to five more years of the same, simply aren’t worthy of this once great nation. That’s an assertion proven beyond doubt by the fact they don’t want to talk about, let alone deal with the most daunting issues. They’ll argue until the cows come home about taxation and spending cuts, whilst immeasurable more important and in need of addressing matters get ignored.

Our politicians will be working to manifestoes hundreds of pages long, that harp on about what are effectively third and fourth division problems, whilst paying only lip service to premier division ones. Fiddling whilst Rome burns New Labour, Tory and Lib-Dem style!

A change of emphasis must happen and needs to be quick. We’re caught up in the most serious crisis of our peacetime history, and it’s high time we recognised that fact and got focused. The time has come in my opinion, to put minor issues aside and concentrate on major ones. Simplicity is called for. A document hundreds of pages long is not required, but a much smaller one to concentrate minds and highlight what’s wrong. We need to assess in blunt terms what our premier division problems are, and identify a starting point where addressing them is concerned.

At the risk of overdoing the symbolism, I cannot resist saying this…
The time has come and is long overdue, to put our house in order. Our politicians have spent decades debating ‘paint and paper’ options, whilst convincing themselves alls well and that they’ve been doing a grand job. Meanwhile the roof has reached the point of caving in, and the supporting walls are cracked through and failing due to neglect of maintenance.

Top 10

Most will agree that Britain is inundated with problems, and that hardly any aspect of national life still works as it should. There aren’t a mere ten problems in need of urgent attention, but hundreds! Such a list though wouldn't make for depressing reading and wouldn’t be far too long to be practical. I have therefore opted to limit the list to ten, but these truly are the premier division ones, that would do the country a power of good, were they to be dealt with.

The first items of the list are not as conventional as for instance… Dysfunctional schooling that has sabotaged the education of an entire generation. Or aggressive Islamists operating under a cloak of legal protection. Those are ‘in your face’ problems, we’re all aware of and that are causing much disquiet and fear nationwide. They need dealing with for sure, but if we’re to rise to the challenge and defeat such important issues, we must be appropriately armed for the purpose and without a ‘third column’ working against us in the shadowy background.

The driving force to take up writing and dedicate the thousands of hours I have thus far. Is that I needed to work out for myself, how the country that had it all, could with such apparent ease have gone so wrong? The answer lies with the basket of ‘attitudes’ that govern the way the nation functions and that shape the quality of life of the populous. Nowhere is it more vital for visionary and unselfish people to be in positions of power and influence, that right at the top of the hierarchy.

My Top 10 is headed up with the most important issues we must get our heads around. The ‘attitudes’ being highlighted are at the very nucleus of Britain’s national malaise. It is from here, that all of our other and numerous problems are being generated. Journalists may not be talking about these issues presently, but they will do in the future, they’ll have to. Britain’s intellectuals aren’t debating them either, which makes me wonder just how insular these supposedly ‘superior’ beings are? The divorcing from and abandonment of, the general population by Britain’s political, commercial and legal leaders, truly is at the heart of the matter. Logic and commonsense says so and our nation really doesn’t have any choice other than to face it.

There follows two versions of the Top 10. The first is short and sweet and aims to highlight a problem in bullet points. Then a more in-depth version does the same thing in paragraphs. Both are downloadable, please click the appropriate link below.

About the Author

I’ve recently past the half way milestone where getting my telegram from Her Majesty is concerned, so hopefully there should still be a bit of life in the old dog yet.

Having entered the world in 1956 at Clapham Hospital in South London, my childhood and youth was spent in a place called Herne Hill close to Brixton. I attended St Saviours Primary at Loughborough Junction and then Kingsdale secondary modern/comprehensive close by Crystal Palace. To be honest I didn’t work anything like hard enough at school and regret that now. But then education undoubtedly is wasted on the young and whoever it was that first coined the phrase got it just about right, certainly in my own case anyway.

On leaving school in 1972, I began a five year apprenticeship in London’s Hatton Garden with RH Wilkins Ltd, a company of Engravers servicing the Silver & Goldsmiths Industry.

In 1980 I married Sandra and a year later we moved out of London to Felixstowe on the Suffolk coast. There we had four daughters and for three years I tried my hand at making a living as a milkman and enjoyed the outdoors life a great deal. The hard winter of 1984 however, made me hanker for a warm and dry workshop once more, so I returned to my trade on a self employed basis and have remained that way ever since.

In 1994 our family uprooted to the Isle of Wight, mainly for the slower pace of life, but also as it happens for the availability of work along the South Coast. Apart from the usual crap all Brits suffer, such as lousy unrepresentative local politicians serving their own ends. Plus the standard range of ‘bad attitudes’ that radiate out of the less intelligent and sociably challenged amongst us, and that blight the entire country anyway to a greater or lesser extent. It’s a great place to live and raise children in relative safety. Now, I cannot imagine living anywhere else and have no intention of moving on again.

My core beliefs are Monarchy. Democracy. Meritocracy (and no that does not contradict with monarchy) ‘The Union’. Maintenance of national sovereignty and independence. The duty of the strong to care for the vulnerable. And that the ‘covenant’ which should exist between a government and populous should become a high priority to invoke.

Sleep No More Long-term

I’ve come to think of Sheep No More as being in effect ‘a little acorn’ of a project, with the potential to spawn not one, but two bigger offspring. One of the pair is commercial, whilst the other political and both already have names. I’d love to be able to state what those are now, but neither has yet been registered with the appropriate government agencies, nor have website domain names reserved. I’ll have therefore to be patient a short while longer. But… just as soon as SNM begins to earn its keep as a project, its offspring will benefit and that is a solemn promise.

To be built must be a new economic model designed to nurture a high skills economy. One that provides young Brits with career prospects and reason to believe in the future. That slows and ideally stops British cash haemorrhaging into the coffers of competitors. And that builds an economy designed to redistribute wealth equitably throughout the majority population as a reward for hard work. As opposed that is to the current regime, designed by the rich, to serve their own greed driven wants exclusively.

Those few wholesome principals encapsulate in a nutshell, what the commercial project will serve to promote.

The second project is political and arises from the fact that so many of us are disenfranchised. I for one cannot, and will not be endorsing any of our established political parties at the General election, because I hold them all jointly responsible for the mess we’re in. And from the thousands of conversations I’ve enjoyed over the past decade or so, it seems I’m far from alone in feeling only contempt for all of our political masters.

Plainly Britain needs a new upstanding political force, to unashamedly promote the needs and interests of the decent, hard working and law abiding moral majority. If only there were sufficient time left to get such an organisation up and running before the General Election. Being realistic though, there isn’t. Therefore the matter will have to be put in hand as and when.

This marks the point where the future is up to you. Are you ready to come onboard with such projects, put your own shoulder to the wheel besides mine and push together? My guess is that if you’ve been concerned enough about Britain and your children’s prospects growing up in this land, to have read all the way to here. That you will want to see these projects developed to their full potential. The ultimate goal being, to claim back for every British girl and boy, of all colours and creeds, their natural birthright of a stable, decent and fulfilling future. Not much to ask on their behalf’s is it?

Your Suppport Sought

By far the easiest way to support this project is to spread word of its existence to your friends, loved ones and contacts, by word of mouth and email. If the idea were to become embedded, that we should refuse to allow our country to continue being trashed. And that British backbone should straighten and spirit be rekindled. Then it is my belief that the country will have performed a vital psychological shift and should then be on the right footing to begin curing its many ailments.

In order to really become a force to be reckoned with, this project has to be capable of attracting funding. Always from the word go, my book Sheep No More was intended to become a generator of cash to then be put to constructive use. And that I pledge will be the case, once the manuscript has been sufficiently polished to be worthy of paper and ink. In the meantime Pimped Britannia is available now as a free download and will shortly be obtainable in printed form.

Should you on reading that short volume conclude… no one else is saying these things or suggesting we really ought to be fighting for our children’s inheritance. You might think it’s a project worth supporting with a few pennies or pounds, I hope so anyway. If you are inclined to help, any contribution at your own discretion will be appreciated, and will be applied towards sustaining this project and ultimately its two vital offspring. To that end, a facility is available via this website, within the ‘shop’ section.

Another way to help will be to sponsor the project. Should you happen to run a small or medium sized business and you support the general philosophy being described. Would you consider placing a link to your own enterprise on this website? Big Business might chose to associate itself with the project too, although I consider so few creditable ones to be left in Britain now, that identifying those doing the right thing by ‘the nation’ will be difficult. The likes of the Cooperative Bank and JCB the Mechanical Digger Company I would be happy to be associated with. The likes of Marks & Spencer and Ford though I would not, on the grounds that both have in my view betrayed Britain, having decanted far too many skilled manufacturing jobs abroad to devastating social and financial effect.

If you would care to associate your company with Sheep No More, particularly if you’re helping keep Britain’s manufacturing heritage alive, please do get in touch. Rates haven’t been worked out yet but they will be very reasonable. The important thing is to start building a network of mutually supportive enterprises, and for us British to at long last begin fighting our own corner. Sound good to you?

Shop

Free download of ‘Pimped Britannia’

Over the coming weeks and months, a starter range of inexpensive merchandise will become available for sale, all of which will be made within the British Isles by our countrymen. The idea being, to support British cottage and mainstream industries, keep our people in paid employment and by doing so, support wholesome and creative role models for the next generation.

As the project develops, more sophisticated items of merchandise will be added as and when possible, along with various commercial services. Eventually a catalogue of goods and services will be made available, all of which will be in support of ‘real jobs’.
